Frequently asked questions
What is Dotspaper?
It's a dynamic wallpaper generator for iPhone and Android. You pick a template, like year calendar, life in weeks, goals, weather, moon phase or a contact card, and an automation on your phone fetches the updated image every day and swaps your wallpaper for you.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It's free and needs no account or sign-up. You pick your phone model, build the wallpaper and copy the link for the automation.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. On iPhone the automation uses the Shortcuts app that comes with iOS, with a step-by-step guide or a ready-to-paste prompt. On Android we use MacroDroid, which is free.
How does the wallpaper update itself?
You create an automation that, at the time you choose, fetches the image and sets it on your lock screen. Dotspaper shows the steps for your device. On iOS each automation runs once a day; on Android it can repeat at intervals.
Can I add my contact details or a QR code?
Yes. The text card makes a solid-background wallpaper with your name, phone, email or website and, if you like, a contact QR code (vCard).
Which templates are available?
There are 22 templates: year calendar, life in weeks, current month, goals and countdowns, week plan, upcoming events, holidays, moon phase, sunrise and sunset, weather, exchange rates, photo of the day and quote of the day.
